A Japanese products tanker collided with a fishing vessel outside Ise Bay this morning, 18 March, resulting in damage to its starboard and injuries and damage to the fishing vessel.
The Japan Coast Guard said that around 1:35 am Tokyo time, the 2016-built 1,255 dwt Chizan collided with a 14-ton fishing trawler as it entered Ise Bay.
Owned by Koyo Yusosen, Chizan was en route from Yokosuka to the outer port limits of Yokkaichi.
Chizan sustained damage to its starboard while the fishing vessel suffered damage to its bow. The captain of the fishing vessel was said to have been injured, although the trawler remained afloat.
None of the crew on the Chizan were hurt.
Chizan was instructed to sail to Toba anchorage for investigations and was permitted to resume its movements in the afternoon.
